		<description>I know this doesn't completely answer the question, but rel="nofollow" does start to address the issue, although it carries it's own set of issues. While it does offer a way to link without adding value, the way Google and other engines have prescribed it's use strikes me as manipulative (most blog engines use nofollow automatically to link to commenter names -- I &lt;a href="http://www.noahbrier.com/archives/2006/07/no_more_nofollow.php" rel="nofollow"&gt;wrote a bit about it awhile back&lt;/a&gt;). Also, while you're on the topic, &lt;a href="http://www.skrenta.com/2007/12/pagerank_wrecked_the_web_3.html" rel="nofollow"&gt;check out this article&lt;/a&gt;.</description>
